Richard D. Calder, Jr.
President & Chief Executive Officer
Richard “Rick” D. Calder, Jr. is GTT’s president and chief executive officer, appointed by GTT’s board of directors effective May 2007. He brings over two decades of experience in the telecommunications arena to GTT. In his role, Mr. Calder has full strategic and operational responsibility for the company and also serves as a director on the company’s board of directors. Mr. Calder joined GTT from InPhonic, Inc., a leading provider of wireless services and products, where he served as the president and chief operating officer. Prior to InPhonic, Mr. Calder was president of Business Enterprise & Carrier Markets at Broadwing Communications. He held senior management positions at Winstar Communications and prior to Winstar, Mr. Calder co-founded GO Communications, a wireless communications company. In his early career, Mr. Calder held various marketing and business development positions at MCI Communications, and various marketing and engineering positions at Tellabs, Inc. Mr. Calder received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Yale University and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.
H. Brian Thompson
Founder & Executive Chairman of the Board
H. Brian Thompson is the founder of GTT and has served as chairman of the company’s board of directors since January 2005 and as its executive chairman since October 2006. From January 2005 until October 2006, Mr. Thompson also served as GTT’s chief executive officer. Mr. Thompson continues to head his own private equity investment and advisory firm, Universal Telecommunications, Inc., focused on start-up companies and consolidations taking place in the information/telecommunications business areas both domestically and internationally. From December 2002 to June 2007, he was chairman of Comsat International, one of the largest independent telecommunications operators serving all of Latin America. He served as chairman and chief executive officer of Global TeleSystems Group, Inc. from March 1999 through September 2000. Mr. Thompson also served as chairman and CEO of LCI International, Inc., from 1991 until its sale to Qwest Communications International, Inc. in June 1998. He became vice chairman of the board for Qwest until his resignation in December 1998. From 1981 to 1990, Mr. Thompson served as executive vice president of MCI Communications Corporation. He currently serves as a member of the board of directors of Pendrell Corporation and Penske Automotive Group, Inc. Mr. Thompson served as the co-chairman for the Americas and is currently on the executive committee of the Global Information Infrastructure Commission, a multinational organization launched in Brussels in 1995 to chart the role of the private sector in the developing global information and telecommunications infrastructure. He serves as a member of the Irish Prime Minister’s Ireland-America Economic Advisory Board. Mr. Thompson received his Master of Business Administration from Harvard’s Business School and holds an undergraduate degree in chemical engineering from the University of Massachusetts.
General Counsel and EVP, Corporate Development
Chris McKee is GTT’s general counsel and EVP, corporate development and corporate secretary for the GTT board. Mr. McKee is responsible for all of the company’s corporate legal requirements, human resources and supplier management. Mr. McKee also oversees the development of strategic business opportunities for the company, including all merger and acquisition activities. Mr. McKee has over 20 years of broad legal experience in the telecommunications industry. Prior to joining GTT, he served as general counsel for StarVox Communications where he was responsible for the company’s legal department, mergers and acquisitions, employment law, litigation, and legal support for the sales teams. Mr. McKee also formerly served as vice president and assistant general counsel for Covad Communications where he headed Covad’s Washington DC office and directed the federal and state regulatory compliance and advocacy efforts for the company. Mr. McKee previously worked for XO Communications, Net2000 Communications and was in private practice in Washington DC as an associate at Dickstein Shapiro and Cooley LLP. Mr. McKee also serves as a director of Cool Technologies, which is developing heat dispersion technologies for use in various product platforms worldwide (NASDAQ: WARM). Mr. McKee received a Bachelor of Arts from Colby College and a law degree from Syracuse University.
Chief Financial Officer
Mike Sicoli is GTT’s chief financial officer, leading GTT’s global finance group, including financial operations, external reporting, investor relations and all banking and advisory relationships. Prior to joining GTT, Mr. Sicoli served as principal of MTS Advisors, LLC, a consulting and advisory services firm he founded in 2013. From 2010 to 2013, he served as chief executive officer of Sidera Networks, a fiber optic service provider that was merged with Lightower Fiber Networks in 2013. From 2005-2010, Mr. Sicoli served as chief financial officer of RCN Corporation, a publicly traded cable, broadband, and fiber optic service provider. Prior to that, Mr. Sicoli held various positions at Nextel Communications, Deloitte Consulting, and Accenture. Mr. Sicoli also serves as a director of Lumos Networks, a fiber-based bandwidth infrastructure and service provider in the Mid-Atlantic region (NASDAQ: LMOS). Mr. Sicoli holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from The College of William and Mary and an MBA from The University of Virginia, Darden Graduate School of Business Administration.
Chief Marketing Officer
Gina Nomellini is GTT’s chief marketing officer, leading GTT’s brand development, messaging and marketing communications, product development and product management. Ms. Nomellini brings over 20 years of global telecommunications experience to GTT. Prior to joining GTT, Ms. Nomellini served as chief marketing officer for One Source Networks, directing all marketing, product and commercial initiatives for OSN. Before that Ms. Nomellini was the vice president of global product and marketing for Telstra, where she oversaw the company’s full suite of international products. She has also held various leadership positions at Level 3 Communications and Broadwing Communications. Ms. Nomellini earned a Bachelor of Arts from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University and an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin.
Division President, Enterprise
Eric Warren is GTT’s division president, enterprise. In this role, Mr. Warren is responsible for overseeing sales and operations, as well as the client service experience, for GTT’s enterprise clients.
Mr. Warren brings over 25 years of data networking and cloud connectivity experience to his position at GTT. He joined GTT from Windstream where he was division president, overseeing sales for the company’s enterprise clients. Prior to his position at Windstream, he spent 14 years with tw telecom, holding leadership roles across multiple regions. As division president at tw telecom, he led a team of over 400 employees and managed more than $750 million in annual revenue. He previously held leadership positions at Winstar, UPC Amsterdam, and CenturyLink.
Mr. Warren has a Bachelor of Science in accounting from the University of Maryland, College Park, and is a certified public accountant.
Division President, Carrier
Jeff Beer is GTT’s division president, carrier, and is responsible for GTT’s wholesale business and revenue growth in the region.
Mr. Beer has been with GTT for over eight years, most recently as SVP of carrier sales, Americas. He joined the company when GTT acquired the global data network of Inteliquent (formerly Neutral Tandem) where he led data sales for the Americas.
He previously held sales leadership positions at equipment companies including ECI, Occam and Skypilot, managing teams selling to Tier 1 service providers. He also spent over seven years in leadership positions in sales and sales engineering at Broadwing and Focal Communications.
Mr. Beer has a Bachelor of Arts in diplomacy and foreign affairs from Miami University.
Division President, UK
Martin Ford is division president, UK, leading GTT’s enterprise and carrier businesses, including sales and other key client-related functions across the United Kingdom as well as the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific.
Mr. Ford joined GTT in February 2017 as part of GTT’s acquisition of Hibernia Networks. Prior to his role at Hibernia, he held a broad range of leadership roles with Level 3 in Europe and the U.S., including wholesale sales, enterprise sales in continental Europe, sales engineering and sales support. He established the European media and broadcast sales team for Level 3 following its acquisition of Servecast and Savvis’ CDN assets. In 2007, he relocated to North America to support Level 3’s mergers and acquisitions and integration efforts, and to run the company’s cellular vertical.
Prior to Level 3, Mr. Ford led the global accounts integration program at Concert. He also held a range of roles within BT, including sales and sales management positions within global banking and payment cards services. He launched his career as an assembler programmer developing marketing and sales systems.
Division President, Europe
Jesper Aagaard is GTT’s division president, Europe, leading sales and key client-related functions for the enterprise and carrier businesses in mainland Europe.
Mr. Aagaard joined GTT through the May 2018 acquisition of Interoute, where he served as managing director, Nordics and Holland. Prior to Interoute, Mr. Aagaard was managing director of Comendo Network, a Danish company listed on NASDAQ OMX, acquired by Interoute in 2012. Prior to Comendo Network, Mr. Aagaard was co-founder and CEO of Netmore A/S, an independent network consulting firm, which was acquired by Comendo Network in 2008.
Mr. Aagaard started his career in the shipping industry before moving to the IT and telecommunications sector in 1998. He held sales management roles at UUNET and COLT Technology Services from 1999 to 2006.
In addition to his executive responsibilities at GTT, Mr. Aagaard serves on the board of directors of OmniCar A/S.
Senior Vice President, Business Operations and Systems
Corey Eng is GTT’s senior vice president, business operations and systems, leading GTT’s software development, systems integration and business operations worldwide. Mr. Eng is a veteran of the telecommunications industry, bringing over 20 years of management experience to the company. Prior to joining GTT, Mr. Eng was vice president of marketing for Comcast, where he was responsible for business services marketing. Before Comcast, Mr. Eng held several senior level marketing positions with some of the leading telecommunications companies, including Nextel, Broadwing, Winstar, Go Communications and MCI. Mr. Eng received a Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California, a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University and an MBA from UCLA.
Senior Vice President, Global Engineering and Operations
Bob Burris is GTT’s senior vice president, global engineering and operations. Mr. Burris is an industry veteran bringing over 30 years of operational, engineering, and technology experience to the company. Mr. Burris is responsible for all operations and engineering components of the company. Prior to joining GTT, Mr. Burris held vice president level positions at Harris Caprock where he managed the firm’s government transport system and global terrestrial network. Before Caprock, Mr. Burris held senior level management positions at Core 180, Arbinet and Cable and Wireless.
